Mecalac MBR71 Pedestrian Rollers
Designed for the compaction of granular and asphalt materials, Mecalac Pedestrian Rollers (formerly Terex Pedestrian Rollers) provide class leading performance in applications including highway repair, footpaths, cycle lanes, playgrounds and landscaping environments. The proven design provides superb balance, making it easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces.
Link between Mecalac & Terex
The Mecalac company is founded in Annecy-le-Vieux, France under the name “Mécanique du Lac”. Mecalac Group S.A. acquired Terex Corporation (Westport, CT)’s dedicated subsidiary, also known under the Fermec and Benford brands, on December 10, 2016. So, all Terex products are available as Mecalac.

Product Overview – Mecalac / Terex MBR71
Designed for the compaction of granular and asphalt materials, Mecalac Pedestrian rollers (formerly Terex) provide class leading performance in applications including highway repair, footpaths, cycle lanes, playgrounds and landscaping environments. The proven design provides superb balance, making it easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces.
Rubber couplings in the drum reduce vibration transfer for low hand-arm (HAV) levels for additional comfort. The MBR-71 is fitted with a ‘hold to run’ handle so that the hydraulic drive cuts off if the control lever is released. Break out – Roll over
For added versatility the Terex MBR-71 roller features a high quality tow-behind trailer and hydraulic breaker combination.
The hydraulic breaker is ideally suited to asphalt repair work for breaking out damaged materials prior to resurfacing.
The TV800 is perfect for small sites. An optional hydraulic breaker outlet provides 30L/min flow rate, removing the need for an additional powerpack or compressor on site, further increasing versatility.
Mecalac Completely Redesigns It’s MBR71 Compaction Roller
In 2017, Mecalac acquired the Terex factory in Coventry, UK, a manufacturing facility for backhoe loaders, site dumpers and compaction rollers. With all of its expertise in design and practical innovation, this manufacturer is improving its products all the time. The MRB71 single-drum compaction roller is a good example of this, and it now incorporates a series of technical updates that improve its ease of use, safety and performance levels.
On the new machine, the belt drive has been replaced by a fully hydrostatic system that makes it more flexible and easier to use. As a result, its width has been reduced, enabling it to work much closer to walls. The capacity of the water tank has been increased to 27 litres and the engine has now been uprated to 7.3 kW. These product enhancements reduce the need for maintenance, they greatly improve ease of use for the operator and also boost the performance of the compaction roller.
When it creates or makes improvements to one of its products, Mecalac systematically seeks to optimise operator safety. On the MBR71, all of the controls have been relocated to the handle to improve the safety and ergonomics of using this unit. The new hydraulic hand brake is applied if pressure drops, making operation even safer.
Specifically designed for the compaction of granular and asphalt-based materials, the MBR71 is perfectly suited to tasks such as the maintenance of roads, footpaths, cycle tracks, play areas and, at a general level, to landscaping work. Its proven design delivers optimum balance, making it the most manoeuvrable in its category in confined spaces, which is why this compaction roller is such an indispensable tool on many building sites.
