HMRC Changes In Fuel Legislation April 2022
As many of you will be aware, the government is in the process of reforming the entitlement to use red diesel and other rebated fuels.
So, following HMRC’s announcement ceasing the use of rebated red diesel and red HVO fuel on 1st April 2022, we are changing the way we operate our fuel supply.
From the 1st April 2022 rebated red diesel and red HVO will no longer be available for use in our machinery, only white diesel and white HVO must be used.
As this change in legislation is mandatory, we are taking steps to enable a smooth transition to the new regulations.

In Readiness For The New Legislation…….
Returning Equipment as from 15th March 2022 to 31st March 2022
During this transition period please return equipment with a minimal amount of Red Diesel. Do not re-fuel with Red diesel or HVO. Any red fuel returned in March will be disposed of and a charge may apply. i.e., if a machine is returned containing ¼ of a tank red fuel this will be disposed of, but you will only be charged for a 3/4 tank of white to top the machine up.
Returning Equipment as from 1st April 2022
Before off hire please only refuel with white Diesel or HVO. If a machine is returned with red diesel this will be drained from the system and you will be charged for disposing of the drained fuel. In addition, you will be charged to completely fill the tank with white diesel.
New Hires as from 15th March 2022
We will begin supplying new hires with white diesel as from 15th March 2022. Sites must ensure equipment is only refilled with white fuel.
In the event that machines are filled with red diesel accidently, they will be considered contaminated and cleaning and disposal fees will be applied.
Equipment Remaining on Hire Through 1st April Deadline
From the 1st April 2022, all equipment will need refuelling with white fuel only.
